Musical Synthesis 101

2.8 Bioacoustics

Bioacoustics is the cross section at which biology and acoustic intersect. Many of the animals that feature certain bioacoustic abilities are quite interesting. Though not directly related to musical synthesis, many of the attributes of sound are closely intertwined with those of bioacoustics and therefore are worth talking about. Essentially, any animal employing sound for communication or other purposes demonstrates bioacoustic capabilities. Some species exhibit unique and remarkable sound utilization methods, setting them apart in the animal kingdom.
